UNICAL Postgraduate Admission Form for 2020/2021 Academic Session
The management of the University of Calabar (UNICAL) is inviting applications from eligible candidates for admission into its graduate programmes for the award of Postgraduate Diploma, Masters and Doctor of Philosophy Degree for the 2020/2021 academic session.

UNICAL Postgraduate Admission Requirements
Courses may be offered in either full-time or part-time. All programmes starts with courseworks and end with a project for Graduate Diploma, MBA, MPA and MPAS or thesis for Masters and PhD degrees.
*Duration of Programme: For full-time studies, the Postgraduate Diploma lasts for two (2) semesters. The Master’s degrees last for 4 semesters, and the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programmes last for 6 semesters.
For part-time programmes, the Master’s degrees last for 6 semesters, the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) lasts for 10 semesters.
Note: Postgraduate Diploma programmes run on a full-time basis only.
*Admission Requirements: Candidates are required to have obtained a minimum CGPA of 3.00 on a 5-point scale and 2.75 on a 4-point scale for Master’s programmes and 4.00 on a 5-point scale and 3.00 on a 4-point scale for the PhD programmes.
A CGPA of 1.50 and above is required for Postgraduate Diploma programmes. Candidates with a Master’s degree from recognized universities may credit the relevant courses towards the PhD programme, provided that the quality of the grade is acceptable to the Graduate School.
Note: Order of filling of forms is Surnames first, First name next then Middle name last.
After the submission of application forms online, changes can no longer be made; so candidates should think and check thoroughly before submission as any change will attract a fee.
This is to prevent multiple applications. The titles Mr, Miss or Mrs may be used but not Rev(Dr), Chief, etc. Programmes applied for should be PhD, M.A, M.Ed, M.Sc, MPH, LLM, and PGD.
As part of the application, candidates are required to submit a CONCEPT NOTE of 2 pages maximum for PhD programmes and one (1) page maximum for Master’s programmes.
The concept note should be typed online in a space provided in the form and printed out for submission to the department. The concept note is a MINI SUMMARY OF RESEARCH PROPOSAL highlighting what candidates intend to research when admitted. It will have to cover the following:
*Statement of the problem
*Relevance of study to self and society
*Aim(s) of the study
*Brief theoretical background
Note: Candidates who do not send their concept notes online along with their application forms will not be allowed to participate in the oral interview.
Candidates should make sure that their academic transcripts are forwarded by their previous institutions through courier service to the Academic Secretary, Graduate School, University of Calabar, P.M.B. 1115, Calabar, Cross River State, on or before the deadline.
All transcripts must be recieved in graduate school on or before the screening day.
Candidates whose transcripts are not received in the Graduate School before the deadline, will NOT BE CONSIDERED for admission.
Awaiting results would also not be allowed, in other words, all applicants whose results have not been approved by the Graduate School Board/University Senate will not be considered for admission.

Process Flow of E-Scratch Card for UNICAL Postgraduate Application
i. Go to any commercial bank and make payment on E-Transact platform to purchase the Postgraduate School application form for 2020/2021 academic session.
ii. Make a payment of ₦25,000.00 and obtain the payment slip.
iii. Visit www.unicalonline.edu.ng/admissions
v. Log on with the generated pin on the payment slip to fill the Postgraduate form.
Application Deadline/Screening Schedule
The UNICAL CBT Examination (2020/2021 Graduate School Programme Screening Exercise) has been rescheduled to:
*Friday, 21st of MAY 2021 for PGD, MPA, MBA and
*Saturday, 22nd of MAY 2021 for M.Sc & Ph.D. programmes.
The Mock CBT examination is now scheduled to hold on the Tuesday 18th MAY and Wednesday 19th of MAY 2021 respectively. Please note that this is optional.
The deadline For The Purchase and Registration of 2020/2021 Graduate School Application Form Is Now On The 29th April 2021.
