The Tony Elumelu Foundation, the number one African-funded and founded philanthropy in the business of empowering African entrepreneurs, is now accepting applications for the 2021 cohort of the TEF Entrepreneurship Programme.
The Programme worth $100 million and for 10-years they have been committed to identifying, training, mentoring, and funding over 10,000 African entrepreneurs. The objective of the Programme is to generate at least 1,000,000 new jobs and create at least $10 billion in new business revenue across Africa. In its 7th year, the TEF Entrepreneurship Programme has empowered over 9,000 entrepreneurs, using a purpose-built and healthy selection, training and implementation process to create visible and sustainable impact across all 54 African countries.
Eminent African entrepreneurs who owns and are running existing start-ups with good prospect towards growth and ambitious business owners with transformative ideas are invited to apply. We are particularly looking for more representation from French, Arabic and Portuguese speakers, not leaving out the female entrepreneurs.
Inspired by Tony Elumelu’s economic philosophy of Africapitalism and his vision to establish intstitutional luck and to make democratic opportunity for a new generation of African entrepreneurs, the Foundation has implemented one of the most ambitious entrepreneurship programmes globally.
This year’s action is to make of top priority, the economic recovery of small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs) and young African entrepreneurs, following the disruption of economic activities by the ravaging COVID-19.
Eligibility for the Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme
The programme is open to every citizens and legal residents of any one of the 54 African countries. The proposed business must be registered and must be operational in Africa.
Applicants must be 18 years old and must not be seen as a minor in their resident country. There is no superior age limitation.
Applicants can be prominent African entrepreneurs who are currently running existing start-ups with good prospect towards growth and ambitious business owners with transformative ideas;
All businesses must be business ideas or an first-stage company, within the range of 0 to 3 years old.
Your application must be focused on ONE business only.
They are particularly looking for more representation from French, Arabic and Portuguese speakers, as well as female entrepreneurs.
The programme is not open to research institutions, faith-based organisations, value-adding trading companies, government contractors and businesses outside Africa. Businesses must not affect the environment, lives and property in an adverse manner. Business ideas must be for profit making and must be the original work of those making the submission.

How to Apply for the Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme
All applications must be submitted ONLINE through the APPLICATION PORTAL. An application form must be completed by you and you will answer a series of mandatory questions and upload additional documents and identify materials in order to complete application. After submitting the application, a confirmation email of receipt will be sent to you.
